Cultural Coordinator

Roger Fobister serves as the Cultural Coordinator for the Jurisdiction Initiative, a role that is vital in integrating the community’s cultural values and traditions into the development of child welfare laws. Roger works closely with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure that cultural practices, language, and traditional knowledge are respected and incorporated into the legal framework. He organizes cultural engagement sessions and provides guidance on how to maintain cultural continuity and identity through the initiative. Roger’s deep understanding of Ojibway traditions helps bridge the gap between modern legal requirements and the cultural heritage of Grassy Narrows First Nation.
