Jurisdiction Coordinator, Team Lead

Deanna Swain is the Jurisdiction Coordinator and serves as the Team Lead for the Jurisdiction Initiative. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the overall progress of the initiative, ensuring that all activities align with the strategic goals of Grassy Narrows First Nation in asserting their jurisdiction over child and family services. Deanna coordinates with various stakeholders, including government agencies, community leaders, and legal advisors, to facilitate the development and implementation of laws that respect and reinforce the community’s cultural and legal traditions. Her leadership is pivotal in navigating the complexities of child welfare law and ensuring the community’s rights are upheld.
